Sailing Courses:
Now in our 19th year, we are one of the longest established RYA training centres operating in the Solent. As well as our usual RYA endorsed practical courses of Start Yachting, Competent Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper, we also offer a range of RYA shore based theory courses including Day Skipper, Coastal/Yachtmaster, VHF Radio Operator, First aid and Sea Survival.

Whether you are a complete sailing novice looking to give sailing a try for the first time or a would be Yachtmaster looking for your final prep course before your examination, we are here to help.

New for the 2009 sailing season we are offering Skippered Sailing Holidays (families welcome) on board our fleet of luxury sailing yachts along the Dorset Coast, to the Channel Islands, France or the West County. These holidays will be great fun, visiting the wonderful islands of Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey, the harbours of Cherbourg and St.Vaast, or the beautiful ports of Dartmouth, Salcombe, Fowey and Falmouth.

We are based from the extremely picturesque Beaulieu River (near Lymington and Southampton), yet within a stones throw of the Solent. In addition to RYA sailing courses we also offer milebuilders / adventure cruises and skippered / bareboat yacht charter.

Southwest Yachting was established in 1990, over the past 19 years we have grown both in size and reputation. Our success has been built on providing a professional service, 1st class yachts, and fully qualified RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Instructors. All of our instructors have been carefully selected and have quality of service and safety foremost in their minds. Southwest Yachting offers sailing for all – from novice crew to the keenest navigator or sail trimmer. Our courses, races, skippered charters and corporate hospitality days are run in a relaxed and friendly manner, which is one of the reasons why our repeat business and referral rate is over 90%!

Southwest Yachting is a fully recognised RYA training establishment, accredited to offer both practical and shore based courses. Practical sailing courses operate from our main training base at Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour on the Beaulieu River. The Beaulieu River offers a beautiful start to your course, charter or corporate sailing day giving easy access to the Solent and beyond. Theory courses, First Aid, Sea Survival, Radar, VHF radio and Diesel Engine Maintenance are also offered from our base at Buckler's Hard.

If you are looking to sail further afield we offer cruising and mile building trips to the West Country, France and the Channel Islands.

Location & How to Find Us:

All our practical and shorebased courses are run from Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour on the Beaulieu River which is between Hythe and Lymington in Hampshire. The Beaulieu River gives us picturesque, direct, easy and quick access into the Solent.

If you are travelling by train, the nearest station to the yacht harbour is Brockenhurst Station which is just a short taxi ride away.

• 5 day courses/charters begin at 18:00 on Sunday and finish at 15:30 on Friday
• 7 day courses/charters begin at 19:00 on Friday and finish at 15:30 on Friday.
