Powerboat Courses:
Plymouth Powerboat School & RIB Charter are an RYA powerboat training centre dedicated to providing the highest possible standards of tuition, safety and equipment all at competitive prices. We train 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year from QAB Marina in Plymouth. We offer power boat courses, shorebased courses, skippered & bareboat RIB charter, boat deliveries, assisted passages, boat transport and own boat training across Britain and Europe. Our most popular courses include Power Boat Level 2 / ICC, Intermediate, Advanced Powerboat, Power Boat Instructor, VHF Radio, First Aid & Day Skipper Shorebased.

Our teaching boats are 3 x 7m RIBs each fitted with either a single 225hp or twin 90hp four stroke engines. All under 2 years old and maintained to the highest possible standards, these boats provide an excellent combination of comfort, safety and speed. All boats are fitted with the latest electronics including a colour GPS / chart plotter, echo sounder and DSC VHF Radio together with a comprehensive set of safety equipment. We also specialise in providing own boat tuition.

Before, during and after your course our professional, experienced, friendly instructors are always on hand to answer any questions you might have. Being a dedicated power boat training sea school gives us the edge over the various sailing schools in the area which only offer powerboating as a sideline. We operate a maximum ratio of 3 students per instructor on all practical courses (1:1 tuition also available) and 6 students per instructor on all shorebased courses. This enables us to offer the personal touch that other centres are unable to.

Plymouth Sound is the ideal location for powerboat training with a unique combination of safe sheltered areas for novices and challenging rough water for advanced courses and bespoke tuition. In the 4+ years that our boat school been operating, we have never had to cancel a course due to the weather. We are easily reached from across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset & Dorset and are only a 3 hour drive from London.

Company Overview:
The school's Principal is Michael Whelan. He is a fully qualified RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor, Senior Sailing Instructor, Day Skipper Shorebased Instructor, VHF Radio Assessor, First Aid Instructor & Commercially Endorsed skipper. Michael has a wealth of boating experience including running a sailing school in Ireland and over 7000 teaching hours.

Your course will start at 09:30 from the Plymouth Powerboat School classroom, Queen Anne's Battery Marina, Plymouth, PL4 0LP

Turn off the A38 at Marsh Mills (signposted City Centre). At the roundabout take the 1st exit (signposted City Centre). Continue until the road split where you will take the left hand lane (signposted City Centre). Turn left, then right at the traffic lights (gas holders on your right, signposted Queen Anne's Battery Marina). Turn left, then left again through the barriers into the Marina. Follow the road around to the left and you will find our classroom next to Waypoint 1.
